Mountain Ministry

This picture is one of the roads to a mountain village that had to be walked whenever it rained. This road represents doing whatever it takes to empower the churches in Honduras.

Most of the village churches of Mount Celaque are on their first pastor, having broken away from the catholic church within the last 30 years. These pastors have been trying to figure things out on their own, and many are still striving for God without much help. They face the pressures of life and ministry while trying to figure out what it means to be a pastor, let alone what it means for everyone to be the church. While there are some ministries at work doing this in the area of Gracias, there are still many village churches who do not have any form guidance or support. We feel called to find these churches and help them grow to be the church God calls them to be.

We plan to do this through:

  1. Consistent Discipleship

When we prayerfully commit to a village church, we will visit them at least once a week through the year to build relationships and get a true glimpse of the church. We will work with church leaders to understand and live out Biblical Truth, and then challenge others to do the same. We will study the Bible with them, pray with them, and share life with them. We believe discipleship is more than just a meeting you go to, it is a way of life where life is shared. We will get to know them, have them over to our home, be there when they need us, and invest the time to really know them.

  2. Meeting Spiritual Needs

Once we get to know the church, we will be able to empower the leadership to help its people. If they need Bibles, discipleship resources, mediations, conferences, or anything we are able to offer them, we will help! This could go from teaching how to really make disciples to organizing a VBS for the village children after school- even teaching people how to read. Whatever it is, God will provide and we will be consistent to empower local believers. Our goal is to help the church become self-sufficient, Kingdom serving, and mission minded.

  3. Relational Ministry

We plan to work with the pastor and church leaders to understand their calling. One of the best ways to do this is by going out and doing ministry alongside them. Be it home visits, Bible studies, or running errands- we will get to know them and serve their village alongside them. We will eventually begin partnering willing churches in the U.S. with a village church to build relationships, encourage each other in faith, and serve the Kingdom together.

Our calling is to empower local Hondurans to take part in God’s Kingdom and connect Hondurans to ministry opportunities where they are.
